Jon - Moving your tone wire may have caused the noise you are getting. But I don't think so, the only way to know is move the wire back to it's original position. Did you put the capicator on the ground wire from the bridge? Check out an article by Tom Porpiglia in Nov. 1986 Guitar Player Magazine. "pure tone at any volume" Contact me anytime if I can be of further help!

Hey there. I just put some noiseless pickups in my strat. They are noiseless - except when I take my hands of the strings. I apparently have a grounding issue. What do you think?

FYI: I made one additional mod on my guitar while installing the pickups: I moved one of the tone wires to the bridge pickup. I had 2 tone knobs acting on the 2nd position (neck and middle pu). The sound was muddy and the knobs confused me. Now the bridge pickup is less shrill.

Any advice you might have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Mike
If I were to try shielding I would try the conductive paint available from Stew Mac, if I tried metal tape and had issues, I think you could put the capacitor on the ground wire of the jack, it should work well. That is what I did on my mod and the client was thrilled.
